In a University
committed to creating a community free from violence, sexual violence
is abhorrent to that commitment. Recognizing that our society is imperfect
and that these crimes do occur, Rutgers University provides services
to victims of sexual violence and supports the Sexual
Assault Victim’s Bill of Rights.
The purpose of the
sexual assault protocol at Rutgers University is to provide a comprehensive,
standardized procedure for all faculty and staff to respond to victims
of sexual assault. All victims of sexual assault should receive the
same response from faculty and staff regardless of department or campus.
The protocol provides a detailed explanation of how to offer a victim
support, information and referral.
Below is a list
of protocol topics that provide information about what is expected of
all University employees should a victim of sexual violence disclose
this to you. If you find that your questions are not answered or you
would like additional information, please feel free to contact the staff
at the Department of Sexual Assault Services and Crime Victim Assistance
(SAS/CVA) at (732) 932-1181.
